I absolutely love to wiki - the only thing missing for me is an offline, cached version of the wiki (clearly being worked on!)
The wiki (in conjuction with my iPhone) has been my way to live a vision for being paperless in Tokyo
For those of you new to wiki:
Wikispaces requires no hosting and is reliable - I can't say how convenient this has been!
If you are someone who "learns by doing" just dive into my Sandbox
vision
some of you are probably wondering why the hell one would want to put their entire like in a wiki?
I want to take a moment to acknowledge - julianm for sharing an idea he had that we all share a vision to use the greatest products in the world - products that really work, products that are socially, environmentally responsible. of course, we all make poor choices at times - sometimes we don't really know what the hidden agenda is behind some of the products we are using (see Story of Stuff) but all in all, we're striving towards a better world.
So I'm not trying to reinvent facebook - I'm just merely taking a different slant - an intensely wiki-oriented slant!
For those of you who like to experiment with your lives - I invite you to create your own wiki and if you want to name it something different - please do! It was powerful for me at the time to just start with my own name or I would have never started trying to think of the perfect name! (i'm sure many of you can relate :)
okey doke - let's play together and see where all this goes!
I am still experimenting helping organizations set up their wikis - it is still an art so the organization that would hire me would have to be progressive and willing to absorb any learning curves! I believe I have solid technical skills to focus on building infrastructure and automating its maintenance but will always be a researcher wanting to be on the edge at heart!
Second Life - "3D wiki"
facebook - "social wiki" (i'm totally making this up but if you think about it, instead of going to a static wiki page (or even dynamic if you have multiple members of a community collaborating on a single page), you have the concept of a person's profile acting as a living entity not only pointing to all things in the universe as related to facebook and the Internet but also people! make for livelier discovery bar none!
