this page was inspired thanks to Kirk Slater of
Tactical Technology Collective!
I recommend anyone interested in this role read the
eRider Starter Kit
I engage with the various types of organizations (bold being where most my time goes, hyperlinks for more info):
- post-conference activity - Asia Commons - community stewardship and outcome planning (my profile)
- foundations and NGOs - Omidyar Network (my profile) and the Asia Resource Foundation
- grassroot efforts - Dance Labs (proposal for Plan International needs loving!)
- universities - KMUTT who have roots in engineering, focus on management
- festivals such as the Burning Man Project
- help wiki gurus like the P2P Foundation
- those who champion transformational leadership like Landmark Education
- do R&D in the area of project management and productivity based on works like David Allen
- private sector - minimize involvement unless it:
- is a learning opportunity to build skills as an eRider
- furthers a working relationship with altrustic Thais
- assist friends and family further their vision in life
- just feels right :)
I am looking to get the following questions answered short-term - many revolve around integrity issues:
- What can I do to prevent myself from being drawn out too thin - I feel like I'm starting to thrash (to borrow a Comp Sci term) my well being is at stake.
- How do I deal with concerns around piracy when limited budgets are at hand?
- Is work status an issue while at NGOs? (in my case it is not, but often meet others who do not have work permits in Thailand)
- How may I ensure I am maintaining a healthy lifestyle amongst many sacrifices and requests to work at a reduced wage?
- What if I go into an organization and the ICT gap is tremendous? to the point that while focused on currently defined work, new gaps threaten scope and makes it challenging to deal with new requests?
- How may I put myself in a role to empower an eRider team in Thailand and learn how to delegate projects and tasks?
